1. Cough - One of the most effective natural remedies for cough is grape juice. Grapes are effective expectorants and can provide relief in just a few days. Mix in a cup of grape juice with a teaspoon or two of honey and take in orally every 3 to 4 hours until the cough subsides.

For dry cough, almonds are recommended. Soak a teaspoonful of almond kernels and let it stand in warm water overnight. Grind them to form a paste and add butter and sugar. The paste should be taken orally twice everyday.

Another natural remedy for cough is raw white onion. Finely chop a medium sized white onion and extract the juice. Mix in a teaspoon of honey for every teaspoon of onion juice. Onions are effective in expelling phlegm and they can be taken twice or thrice a day.

2. Sore throat - The treatment of sore throat starts with providing relief from itching and burning sensations in the lining of the throat. The use of mango bark is proven to be an effective treatment for various throat disorders. Simply extract the juice from mango bark using a blender. Mix in 125 ml of water with 10 ml of bark juice and you can use this as an effective gargle. If you want an aromatic cure for sore throat, use cinnamon. Boil a teaspoon of cinnamon powder and add in a pinch of pepper and a few drops of honey. If you have cinnamon oil you can also mix it with honey to provide relief.

3. Diarrhea - To effectively treat diarrhea, use buttermilk. The acid content of buttermilk is effective in fighting off germs and bacteria in the lining of the intestines. Preparing carrot soup is another effective remedy for diarrhea. Not only does it provide the needed water to fight off dehydration, it also provides sodium, calcium, potassium, and magnesium to the body.

You need about half a kilo of peeled carrots cooked in boiling water until soft and mushy. Strain the pulp and add a tablespoon of salt to the mixture for taste. Another treatment for diarrhea is mint juice. Mix a teaspoon of mint juice with a teaspoon of lime juice and honey. This mixture need to be taken orally every 8 hours for lasting effect.

There are indeed hundreds of home remedies that help cure common ailments and they can be easily made at home. These home remedies are known for their excellent medicinal values. But if symptoms persist, you need to visit a physician for a complete diagnosis and treatment of the illness.
