Stiletto Heels: The High Price of Being Fashionable with Heels
What is more perfect than having those ultra-tight thin jeans and splendidly attractive tall heels? What would be more glamorous than walking through that caf door looking like one of the ladies from Sex and the Town. Though most would adore to celebrate everyday living in haute couture, one should also remember that a number of things are not really worth the sacrifice one of those being the Stilletto heel.
Who Started the Trend?
In the 1950s, an Italian designer by the name of Roger Vivier introduced a line of heels that were around four to 5 inches tall. These were intended to go with fashions designed by French fashion designer Christian Dior and were named after thin Italian daggers known as stilettos. Up to this very day, stilettos are still employed by many women worldwide as they're known to create an attractive and trendy appeal to everyday wear.
Health Observations
But as in certain fashion trends, stilettos have been known to cause a bunch of issues in women ranging from simple foot pain to osteoarthritis.
Shoes with heels of two inches and above tend to make the foot slide forward causing the toes to cram in front. As a consequence, toes tend to curl at the middle joint to compensate for such cramming. This condition, more famous as hammer toes, also leads to a shortening of the muscles supporting the foot resulting in such a malformation. Over a longer period of time, doctors have also reported the formation of calluses, corns, bunions and even toenail issues as a consequence of high heels.
Stilletos also have a tendency to change the gait of an individual resulting in a big amount of force being applied to the thin heels found at the back portion of the foot. Extra strain is also placed on the thigh muscles resulting in discomfort in other areas of the leg, for example the knee joint or even in upper body structures e. G the back.
The worst sort of injury that might be acquired through the use of these kinds of heels are bone breaks which result from accidents associated with such kind of shoes.
Ladies Just Wont Learn
In spite of these facts, surveys repetitively show that the requirement for stiletto heels remain rather high. In polls taken, results show that at least 37 p.c of women carry on employing high, stiletto heels in spite of the pain that they feel when they wear them since they believe that wearing stilettos add to their appeal.
Unravelling Heel Discomfort
What women do not realize though is that when the damage has been done, generally these turn out to be irrevocable. Although relief can be had from stretching exercises, the use of shoe inserts and medicine, the final solution always finishes up in the operating room.
While it's correct that ladies should be conscious of their fashion sense, it would also be sensible to keep under consideration that girls shouldnt fall victims to fashion. As much as beauty and glamour comprises some variety of sacrifice, in the final analysis, a woman must also know when enough is enough.
